Hannah – Senior Supervising Social Worker

Hi I’m Hannah! I am new to UK Fostering and am looking forward to meeting all the new families I will be working with.

I qualified with an MA in Social Work in 2010 and have worked extensively with children and families in and across Greater Manchester from all walks of life. Prior to qualifying as a social worker, I studied Sociology at the University of Manchester and have always been interested in human psychology and relationships. I have done lots of volunteering in India, Africa and with UK Charities. I have a passion for helping others which naturally led me to pursue a career in social work.

My first social work role was at Manchester Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre in Wythenshawe Hospital where I provided holistic support to all patients with Cystic Fibrosis. I then went on to work for different local authorities in Safeguarding and Child Protection teams. Over the last ten years I have gained a wealth of experience working closely with children on Child Protection Plans and in Court Proceedings.

After many years of working in statutory social work, I wanted to focus on supporting families therapeutically and began working as a Multi-systemic Therapist. This role gave me lots of training and experience in different therapeutic modalities such as strategic and structural family therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy. I was the clinical lead for each child I was working with, all of whom were on the edge of care. These children were at risk of entering the care system and I was responsible for managing high levels of risk including substance misuse, self harm, CSE and criminal involvement. I worked closely with other agencies to support these families and their children.

In my spare time I love playing and listening to music, spending time with my young girls and going on walks in nature!
